Charles (Chuck) F. Winzer, Jr.'s Obituary
In Loving Memory
A Life Lived with Purpose, Integrity, and Love
November 13, 1940 ✝ June 11, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles (Chuck) F. Winzer, Jr. of Hudson, Florida, formerly of Marine City, Michigan. He was surrounded by his family and passed away peacefully after a long illness. His life was a beautiful example of faith in action. A man of steadfast conviction, devoted husband, loving father, and tireless mentor, he moved through the world with quiet strength and genuine grace — leaving each life he touched richer for having known him.
Chuck graduated from St. Theresa Catholic School in 1959. He then received a full-ride scholarship to the University of Buffalo for football. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Education, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1963, where he became a paratrooper at Fort Dix in New Jersey. During his time there he also played Armed Forces Football while stationed in Germany. After returning home to Michigan he received his Master’s Degree in Science from Eastern Michigan University. He taught at Marine City Holy Cross, Troy Athens and East China School District where he retired and then worked as a substitute teacher for many years. He coached football for St. Clair High School from 1976-1996, coached Marine City High School baseball from 1984-2005 where he was the winningest baseball coach in school history. Chuck also refereed girls and boys basketball in the Blue Water area for 40 years. He inspired athletes and students not simply to compete, but to become — to discover their character and live with integrity. Many of those he guided went on to become coaches and teachers themselves, carrying his lessons into new classrooms and locker rooms of their own.
Throughout his life, he gave unwavering love and devotion to the two remarkable women who defined his world — his beloved late wife, Kiki (Kay Ann Winzer), and his wife and angel, Susie (Susan Carrier-Winzer). His love for them was unfaltering and deep.
He is survived by his beloved son, Frederick Winzer, daughters, Lesley (Jeff) Winzer-Green, Kim Christi and Suzy (Alan) Lustre, each of whom carries his spirit forward through the way they love, lead and live. Grandchildren, Natalie (Alec) Green-Rospierski, Taylor (Eric) Eschenberg, Rachel Green, Kaitlyn Winzer and Lauren (Kim) Martin. Great grandchildren, McKenzie, Hailey, Chase, Madison and Emma Jean Martin. — His grandchildren were his joy, pride, and one of the greatest gifts of his life who brought him immeasurable happiness. Chuck also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, John Adams and sister-in-law, Sally Joure.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Ann Winzer, daughters Ann, Megan and Meredith, sisters, Patricia Adams, Marion (Robert) Byrne, brother, Frederick Winzer, brother-in-law, William Joure, his parents Charles and Helen Winzer and parent in-laws, William and Katherine Joure.
Chuck’s faith was his foundation, his integrity his signature, and his love the gift he gave without reservation. Though he is gone from our sight, his heart beats on in all of us.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
