Mr. Charles Henry Babcock's Obituary
Charles Henry Babcock, 82, of St. Clair, died peacefully at home on January 7, 2015. He is preceded by Nancy, his wife of 53 years, and survived by his six daughters, 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He graduated from University of Detroit, and attended Detroit College of Law. He served in the Army Intelligence, stationed in Germany, before coming home and getting married. Along with his dad and brother, he grew C.W. Babcock and Sons into a successful building and development company headquartered in Grosse Pointe. He dedicated his life to service, participating in the Better Business Bureau, Lions Club of St. Clair, Lions Youth Exchange Program, Civil Air Patrol, Rotary Club of St. Clair and he was elected as St. Clair Township Supervisor. He always challenged his children to experience life, from city living (Grosse Pointe) to farm living (Croswell), from Northern Michigan to Southern Florida, up in the air (Pilot license) to under the sea (scuba diving), around the world (exchange students), to family cruises to Alaska. He will be missed, but his spirit will stay with us always.
Funeral services will be Saturday January 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Friday January 16th from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to service.
