Charlene Taylor, lovingly known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025. Born on August 23, 1955, to Archie and Libuna Jones, Charlene graced the world with a heart full of love and touched all who crossed her path. For almost 30 years, Charlene loved being a cook at Eddy Elementary and Saint Clair High School. She created more than meals, she made lifelong friendships, volunteered in classrooms, and always knew which kids needed a little extra attention. She nurtured countless children and colleagues with her kindness and care. At the heart of Charlene’s life was her family. She found immense joy in being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Charlene and Robert shared their love for 37 years, and Robert was the most loving caregiver to her. As a mother to her daughters Janiene McCartney (Matt) and Jennifer Trout (Matt), she provided guidance rooted in compassion and wisdom. But it was in her role as "Nanny" that Charlene truly shone; her eight grandchildren—Aidan, Drew, Violet, Henry, Amelia, Emma, Cooper, and Abigail—were the light of her life. To them, she was not just a grandmother but a source of unconditional love and support. She made every holiday, birthday, school function, and dance so much more meaningful with her presence and support. She is also survived by her sisters, Pauline (Phil) VandenAkker, Carol (Dan) Robbins; sister-in-law, Chris Jones, as well as several other special in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Jones. Charlene’s legacy is one of selflessness and devotion—a life lived in service to others through small acts of kindness that left a mark on everyone she met. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. May Charlene's memory bring solace to all who loved her and serve as a reminder of the beauty found in a life dedicated to love and care. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Friday, January 24 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Charlene can be made to East China Food Service.
