Bonnie Lou Chartier's Obituary
Bonnie Lou Chartier, 71, of St. Clair, went home to be with our Lord on October 17, 2014, peacefully, after a brave battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born December 31, 1942 in Marine City to the late Harold "Ben" & Evelyn Chartier. Bonnie is survived by her children, Cindy (Bob) McCollister, Kevin (Mary) Griffin and Kelly Griffin. Grandchildren, Heather Seczawa, Rob (Jade) McCollister, Tori and Lili Griffin. One great-grandchild, Autumn Seczawa. Sisters, Joyce (Jerry) Carroll and Carol Pogue. A brother, Harold "Benny" Chartier, former sister in law; Charlene “Shush” Kenny and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bonnie is also survived by many beloved friends. Special friends, Norma, Bobbi, Mary Lynn and "Chuckie". She was preceded in death by a son, Kurt Griffin and a sister, Jane Ernst. Bonnie was loved by and had the most extraordinary care given to her by the staff at Medilodge of St. Clair. Bonnie and her family were blessed to have them for the past 5 years of her life. Bonnie and her family were also blessed to have the care of Seasons Hospice the last 4 months of her illness. Bonnie was a very talented lady; artistic and creative. Some of her favorites were pastel painting, cooking, cake decorating, sewing- especially stuffed bears for her grandchildren. Her greatest passion was her grandchildren, their "Grammy", enjoying them and making many lifelong memories. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 4061 Saint Clair Hwy, East China, MI 48054, Saturday, November 1, 2014. Visiting hours will be 11am to 3pm, with Service at 3pm with Rev. Robert Harrell officiating. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or to family earmarked for something special for the Dementia/Alzheimer Unit at Medilodge in Bonnie's Memory.
