Betty Jane Prange's Obituary
Betty Jane Prange, age 98, of China Twp., passed away May 8, 2024. She was born August 12, 1925 in China Twp. to the late Harvey and Clara Genshow.
On October 16, 1948 Betty married Merton Prange and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Merton preceded her in death December 10, 2003.
Early in her career, Betty was a secretary at Chrysler Corp. and later transitioned locally as the secretary at Eddy Elementary School as Theo Eddy’s personal secretary. Following the birth of her children, Betty was a loving homemaker that also found time to work on the family farm.
Betty was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp. She was part of the cleaning teams that cleaned the church. Betty was also on the funeral lunch committee, member of the choir, member of the former Ladies Aid and the visiting team for shut-ins. Betty was also famous for her delicious pies, especially her apple pies that she donated each year for the church auction.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter in law, Glenn and Jody Prange; grandchildren, Dominic Breloski II, Brandi (Ronnie) Salisbury and Molly Reiter; great grandchildren, Owen, Gwen and Evan Salisbury and Abigail Lang, many dear nieces, nephews, special friends and church family.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Wendy in 1959; siblings, Ken (Charlotte) Genshow and Dorothy (Clint) Sharrow.
Family extends a special thanks to Vickie Sharrow for all her assistance, dedication and special care over the years.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Monday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Tuesday 10 – 11 a.m. at church prior to service.
