Bernice L. Westrick's Obituary
Bernice L. Westrick, age 90, of China Twp., passed peacefully with family on September 24, 2022. She was born November 15, 1931 to the late Lawrence J. and Angela (Schloff) Rhein in Richmond.
On May 10, 1952, Bernice married Leo E. Westrick at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage before Leo’s passing on November 21, 2007.
Bernice graduated from St. Augustine Catholic School in 1949. She worked at CO-OP and Belle River Credit Union, retiring after 46 years. She also worked along with Leo on their farms and continued farming with the help of Steve Schweiger after Leo’s death.
Bernice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clair. She enjoyed being with family and friends.
Bernice is survived by her sisters, Rosemary Smith and Caroline (George) Biscarner; brothers, Donald (Helga) and James (Debbie) Rhein; sisters-in law, Mary, LuAnn, Sue, Carol and Ellie Rhein; many nieces, nephews, cousins and Steve and Kathy Schweiger and their families and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred, Edward, Larry, Fred and Art Rhein and brother in law, Dick K. Smith.
Bernice is also survived by Leo’s siblings, Joyce (Jerry) Cooley, Ken Westrick, Katie (Harold) Distelrath, Vern (Margie) Westrick, Alfred Westrick, Jack (Alyce) Westrick; sisters in law, Catherine Ann Westrick, Gail Westrick and Mary Louise Westrick.
She was preceded in death by father and mother in law, Raymond and Mary T. Westrick; in laws, Raymond, Anne, Lloyd, Edward, Marvin, Ervin, Linda, Barb, Linda J., Alvoy, Marilyn and Joyce Westrick.
Funeral mass will be held Monday October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home with a rosary recital at 7:00 p.m.
