Bernadette "B" Wilkens' Obituary
Bernadette “B” Wilkens, age 73, of St. Clair, passed away unexpectedly in her home on April 25, 2023. B was born on October 8, 1949, in Cheboygan, MI, to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Bon Secours) Heilman. On December 13, 1980, she married Raymond Wilkens who preceded her in death in 1999.
B graduated from Holy Cross High School. After graduating, she started working at River District Hospital as a candy striper. Throughout the 40 years that she worked at the hospital, she worked her way up from a nurse’s aide to become a Respiratory Therapist, working mostly afternoons during her time there.
Bernadette is survived by her siblings, Karl Heilman, Jeanette Williams, David Heilman, Josette Barney, Daniel (Donna) Heilman, Yvette Slease, and Colette Danhausen, along with many nieces and nephews.
B was preceded in death by sisters, Annette Heilman, Victoria Smith, and Lisette Heilman; brothers-in-law, Roger Barney, David Williams and Dallas Danhausen.
A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, OLR Parish, Marine City. Interment will be in Capac Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary recital at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Additional visitation Wednesday 10:30 to 11:00 prior to mass at church.
