Benjamin M. Hosford's Obituary
Benjamin M. Hosford, age 82, of Algonac, passed away February 3, 2023. He was born September 23, 1940 in Ottumwa, Iowa to the late Millard and Marie Hosford.
On March 17, 2004, Benjamin married Carolyn McCalla. Following in his father’s footsteps, Benjamin was a carpenter for 35 years. He attended carpenter trade school for 3 years in Detroit and was a member of Carpenter’s Local 687, Mt. Clemens.
In his spare time, Benjamin enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was also a big fan of John Wayne, whether it was his movies or memorabilia Benjamin had a passion for both.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carolyn Hosford; children, Neil (Debbie) Hosford, Robin (Joe) Stanley, Tammy (Chris) Jones, Ben Jr. (Julie) Hosford, Benjamin R. Hosford, Nicole (Tom) Scott; step son, Scott Alan Merlo Sr.; grandchildren, Neil, Drue, Johnny, Samantha, Sabrina, Megan, Scott Jr., Nathan, Mathew, Savannah, Kyle and Sara; great grandchildren, Luke, Emma Grace, Jordan Bradley, Avianna Marie, Stefan, Gavin William, Anna Kate, Haylee Grace, Alisa Evanna, Nolan Edward, Gunnar, Isabella, Eli Dean, Indy, Charlotte, Eleanor, Cora Jade, Waylon and Silas; in-laws, Marilyn & Dennis Browning, Jane and Don Davenport, Joyce and Charlie Frank, Diane McCalla and Chuck Perry and nieces and nephews.
Benjamin was predeceased by his previous wife of 36 years, Pamela Hosford; daughter, Denise; sister, Cathi Perry and brother in law, Jim McCalla.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Monday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to services.
