Bart James Stockwell's Obituary
Bart James Stockwell, age 73, of St. Clair, passed away September 24, 2021. He was born July 6, 1948 in St. Clair to the late George and Evelyn Stockwell.
Bart was a Sergeant with the U.S. Army and stationed in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. On February 22, 1974 Bart married Karen Gellasch. Bart was a 32 year employee of DTE, retiring in 2010. His memberships included St. Mary’s Catholic Church and American Legion Post #382, St. Clair. He enjoyed coaching AAU basketball and Little League. Bart was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to the annual family vacation in Caseville.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Stockwell; children, Bart II (Kristy) Stockwell, Tricia (Dan) Gapshes and Katie Stockwell; grandchildren, Maddy, Colton, Daniel, Jacob, Anna, Alicja, Jayce, Ashlynn, Kalynn, Charlie and Bailey; siblings, Diane Halvorson, Barbara (Gary) Ellery, Carol (Lee) Teichman, Michael Stockwell (Sandy), John (Cathy) Stockwell and Evelyn (Ed) Weber; brother in law, Stanley Seczawa and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Bart was predeceased by his son, George Stockwell III; sister, Ila Seczawa; niece, Joie Lynn Stockwell and brothers in law, Michael Halvorson and Mike Gellasch.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday September 28th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary recital.
