Mrs. Barbara (Posly) Shonk's Obituary
Barbara (Posly) Shonk, age 72, of East China Twp., died October 5, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 12, 1943 to the late Leo and Lillian Posly.
Barb was an active member of Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City, where she was one of the first female lectures in the history of the church and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also had a long career as a bookkeeper which started at Godfrey and Hammel Accounting.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Frank Shonk. Loving sons and daughters in law; Paul and Kimberly Shonk and Kenneth and Angeline Shonk. Cherished grandchildren; K.C., Abigail and Kate. Also the sister of Carol (Joe) Schuld and Leon (Kathy) Posly.
A funeral mass will be conducted Friday October 9th at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visitation will be Thursday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Family will receive visitors Friday at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to mass.
