Arlen Edward Schade's Obituary
Arlen Edward Schade, age 94, of Casco Twp., passed away March 3, 2025, with his loving family at his side. He was born February 8, 1931 in Clinton Twp. to the late Edward and Helen Schade.
On October 20, 1956, Arlen married Lucille Kammer in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp. and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Lucille preceded him in death on September 10, 2020.
Arlen proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Kloeffler Industries, Marine City, following many years of employment. Arlen was the neighborhood welder and fabricator, assisting many farmers, family and friends with their projects. He had a keen eye for detail, always drawing up a well laid out plan for each project.
Arlen’s skill set went beyond just welding. He enjoyed rebuilding antique engines and tinkering with his beloved tractors. He was an active member of the St. Clair County Farm Museum, where he would operate the sawmills at many events. Arlen crop farmed for many years and always had a wonderful garden. His family fondly remembers camping trips, dune buggy rides and trips to Shipshewana. Arlen had a special bond with each of his grandchildren. His love for them will be something they will cherish forever. Arlen’s kindness was shared with everyone he met. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheila (John) Santini; son in law, Lonnie Lomerson; grandchildren, Jennilee Lomerson, Jamilee Lomerson, Katlyn (Albert) Liebetreu, Brandon (Ashley) Lomerson and Heather (Chris) French; great granddaughter, Faith Liebetreu; brother, Glen (Marilyn) Schade and Marvin Schade; sisters in law, Diane Schade, Marilyn Schade and Lorraine Fahs and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Sandy Lomerson; sisters, Shirley Schroeder and Lorraine Heldt; brothers, Norman Schade and Edward Schade and in laws, Phyllis Schade and Donald Fahs.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp. Visiting hours are Thursday, March 6th 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Friday at church prior to service 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Lomerson, Al Liebetreu, Chris French, Calvin Fahs, Jeff Fahs and Gary Duncan.
Urn interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery at a later date.
