Archie John Rock's Obituary
Archie John Rock, age 80, of Marysville, former resident of St. Clair, MI, peacefully passed away on the morning of February 25, 2024. He was born on January 19, 1944 in the city of Detroit to Bernard and Leona (McPherson) Rock.
He graduated from Carsonville High School in 1962 as class president. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Navy where he served from 1965-1969. He was a Fire Control Technician on the USS Boston during the Vietnam War. After his service, he used the GI Bill to attend Western Michigan University where he graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduating he worked for Chrysler, American Motors, and eventually retired as a vehicle safety engineer from Fiat Chrysler Group in 2001. Archie married Sandra Kay (Schlarb) on March 17, 1973. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage together. Archie always cared for his family and one of his favorite hobbies was fishing on the St. Clair River.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Rock, daughter, Jennifer (Blair) Massey, grandchildren, Isabel and Isaac Allen, and Dylan and Tyler Rock, sisters-in-law, Nancy (Schlarb) Grover and Penny (Schlarb) Pringle, and other loved ones of the Rock and Schlarb families.
He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Rock, parents Bernard and Leona Rock, sister, Sandra (Rock) Kelke, and nephew, Brian Grover.
Arrangements have been made at Young Funeral Home, China Twp for Sunday, March 3, 2024 with a viewing from 1-3 pm and a service immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers, all donations will be made in memory of Archie to the Parkinson’s Foundation due to his battle with the disease.
