Anthony Palermino Sr.'s Obituary
Anthony Palermino Sr., age 86, of Marysville, passed away January 12, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was born March 10, 1930 in Detroit to the late Nicholas and Angeline (Caleca) Palermino.
Tony graduated from the Detroit Institute of Technology School of Pharmacy in 1952. He proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Pharmacy Technician from 1953 to 1955. He managed several pharmacies in St. Clair Shores and in the late 1970’s he moved to St. Clair, Michigan and owned and operated his own Clinic Pharmacy in Richmond until his retirement in December 1996.
Tony married Gloria Trompics in Detroit in May of 1955. She preceded him in death in September of 1993. He later married Barbara Burns in July of 1995.
Tony was very active within his profession and community, some of his many affiliations were the Pharmacy Fraternity (Kappi Psi), Macomb County Pharmacy Assoc., Knights of Columbus Marysville Council 9526, Holy Cross Catholic Church-OLR Parish and Special Association Club 52. Tony served as an usher for many years at St. Margaret Church, St. Clair Shores and Holy Cross Church, Marine City. He also worked on the Holy Cross Bingo Committee every Tuesday morning in Marysville in support of his church. His family will also remember him for his love of golf, his beautiful calligraphy skills and most of all being a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Palermino; children, Cheryl (Larry) Commerson, Nicholas (Angela) Palermino, Randy (Susan) Palermino, Marc Palermino, Nino (Sandy) Palermino and Thomas (Jennifer) Palermino. Step children, Dawn (Albert) Capanna, Michelle McLouth and Sydelle (Joe) Donnelly; 12 grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Perri and furry friends, Bunky and Betsy. Tony was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard and Joseph Palermino and sister, Augustine Falzone.
Special thanks for the compassionate care given to Tony by caregivers, Cammy, Gina, Jenny and Kathy, Reverence Hospice, Dr. Lee Bacheldor and the staff of St. John River District Hospital.
A Mass of Resurrection will be Monday January 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish, Marine City. Visiting hours are Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recital at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to mass.
