Anthony J. "Tony" Pizzo Jr.'s Obituary
Anthony J. "Tony" Pizzo, Jr., age 63, of St.Clair, died July 15, 2015 unexpectedly as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born February 6, 1952 in Detroit to Anthony and Barbara Pizzo. He married Julie Walker on January 18, 1992. He faithfully served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1970-74 and with the U.S. Army from 1976-78. He served honorably as a medic during the Vietnam War. After serving his country he worked as a police officer in Florida and Michigan. He then worked as a registered nurse for many years and retired from the VA Hospital in Detroit.
He retired as an officer from the St. Clair Fire Department after 20 plus years of service. He enjoyed his time with Blue Water Offshore Boating Association for 20 years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 382, St. Clair, Knights of Columbus #2251, St. Clair, NRA, POW-MIA, HOG motorcycle club, and was currently serving on the Golf Commission for the City of St. Clair. He was very proud to have help escort the Vietnam Wall Memorial by motorcycle through Southeastern Michigan.
After retirement he enjoyed being a D.J. as the proud owner of Blue Diamond Entertainment.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; Julie Pizzo, children; Tina (Doug) Wendell, David (April) Pizzo, Missy (Matt) Cowper, Angie Pizzo, Alyson (Matt) Dersam, Emily Askew (Jimmy Freeland), Kyle Askew, McKensey Pizzo, Joehl "Bubba" Pizzo, along with 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother; Barbara Pizzo, siblings; Sam (Cathy) Pizzo, John (Kathy) Pizzo, Tina Pizzo, father and mother in-law; Nate and Frances Walker, sisters in-law; Marji Beaudry, Norma (John) Pringle and many, many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; Anthony Pizzo, Sr. and brother; David Pizzo.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St.Clair. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, St.Clair. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to the mass.
