Alice Rinke's Obituary
Alice Rinke, age 75, of East China, passed away peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by family on November 20, 2023. She was born February 26, 1948 to the late Walter and Irene Szymanski. Alice married Al “Butch” Rinke at St. Martin de Porres in Warren on February 17,1968. Alice worked as the Chief’s secretary and retired from the Port Huron Police Department in 1996. Upon retiring she went to work with Butch and helped start and grow his business, RDM Enterprises.
Alice loved taking trips to their cabin in Lewiston and traveling to visit all the great lakes with Butch. She enjoyed puzzles, skiing, and especially boating. She was involved with the Michigan Special Olympics, was a board member for Wales Twp., taught catechism at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Columbus Twp. and was also the founder of the Richmond women’s softball league where she also played. Her and Butch also won best originally restored house for Wales Twp. But most of all Alice loved the time she got to spend with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Butch; children, Kathryn Russell, Jeff Rinke, Anne (Matthew) Landschoot; grandchildren, Dustin Russell, Emma Landschoot, Madison Landschoot; sisters, Christine (Ken) Cymbalski, Jenny (late Howard) LaGorio, Marie (Gary) Anderson, along with several nieces and nephews.
Alice is preceded in death by her brothers, Stephen Szymanski and Danny Szymanski.
Visitation will be Friday November 24, 2023 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. From 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a funeral mass on Saturday November 25, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church, St. Clair at 11:00am.
