Alice M. King's Obituary
Alice M. King, age 90, of East China, peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2025. She was born on June 20, 1934 to the late John H. and Carice M. Steele in Newton Falls, Ohio. She was raised in Cambridge, OH where she attended a one room school for 8 years. Her mother was her teacher for grades 1, 2 and 3. Alice graduated from Cambridge High School, OH, class of 1951. She went on to Muskingum College where she graduated in 1955 earning her B.S. in education. Alice taught six and a half years in Columbus, OH. Following her time in Ohio, she moved to Michigan where she taught for 23 years in East China Schools, Palms, Belle River, and Washington Elementary. Alice went back to school and proudly earned her Master’s Degree from Wayne State University in 1974.
She has been a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City since 1970 assisting as a pantry worker as well as a member of the Altar Guild. Alice served as a volunteer at River District since 1995, and was a body recall member since 1994.
She married in 1957 and 4 children born of union, Laura Decker of St. Clair, Wesley (Tanya) King of Castle Pines, CO, Gwen (Alphanso) Lewis or Augusta, GA, Trent King of Monument, CO; eight grandchildren, Mollie, Meri, Sydney, Keegan, Hannah, Port, Evan, Ashlyn; 3 great grandchildren, Avery, Emmett, Morris.
Cremation arrangements with Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City.
