Albert H. Werden's Obituary
Albert Herrington Werden, 82, of Marine City entered into eternal life, peacefully in the Medilodge Center in St. Clair, Michigan after a long illness Sept. 17th, 2011. He was born March 13, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Albert and Barbara B. Werden.
Albert served his country in the United States Naval Department on The USS Coral Sea from 1949 to 1953.
He married Colletta M. O’Keefe of Campbellford, Ontatrio, Canada on August 22, 1953. She passed away September 16, 2003.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Bowling Green State University and Master’s degree with honors at Wayne State University, in Art Education.
Mr. Werden taught art for two years in Reading, Mi. and eight years in Marine City High School .Mr. Werden retired from the Port Huron Area School District after 33 years of teaching.
He enjoyed working on his art after retirement, he also enjoyed camping, gardening, photography, playing chess and board games with his family, traveling with his wife, and taking his daily walks through town.
Surviving are his sons, Scott (Carol) Werden of East China, Fred (Cheryl) Werden of Columbus Twp, Matthew (Penny) Werden of St Clair Twp. Daughter, Barbara (Lynn) Markel of St Clair Twp; grandchildren, Janelle and Garett Miles, Kyle and Christy Markel, Jessica and Jeremy Ross, Lesley ,Kelley Megan , Barbie, and Erica Werden; 5 Great grandchildren,Tyle, Alayna, Brody, Carolynn, and Claire. Two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Werden was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Barbara Werden, one brother Alan Scott Werden.
Private memorial service will be held on a later date, burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Marine City.
