Albert G. Simons' Obituary
Albert G. Simons, 89, passed away in his home on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. He was born September 18, 1922 in St. Clair, MI to Reinhold (Bunt) and Leona (Westrick) Simons. He married Marion H. Stolp on October 16, 1943 in St. Clair. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1990.
At age 20, Al started his own dairy farm. He hauled milk from 1946-79 starting with a can route and later bulk. He delivered sawdust to area horse farms and also started Al Simons Water Hauling. The dairy farm and water hauling business continue in operation today. At age 6, he discovered his love for coon hunting, and continued with the sport for the next 80 years.
Al is survived by a son, Larry, daughters Suzanne (Tom) Kenyon, and Nancy (Ken) Eisen, all of St. Clair; grandchildren, Jim (Alesia) Simons, Barb (Tim) Angove, Scott (Jessica) Simons, Bunt (April) Simons, Carrie (Chris) Zobl, Alan (Melissa) Simons, Stacey (Dave) McLeod, Tom (Missy) Kenyon, Amy (Tony) Pergitone, Bobby Eisen and Taylor Eisen; great grandchildren, Brandon and Garrett Simons, Ashley (Jeff) Verbeke, Joel Angove, Austin and Alexa Schweihofer, Ashlyn Simons, Chase and Emma Zobl, AJ and Ben Simons, Brooke and Kaitlyn McLeod, Sophie, Avery, Grace, and Celia Kenyon, Sam, Ava, and Vivian Pergitone; one great great granddaughter, Ellie Verbeke; sister, Gladys Guldenstein, and sister-in-law, Donna Simons and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by a son, Jim, in 1974, a brother, Eddie Simons, in 1985, and a sister, Helen Siler, in 2010.
Memorials may be made to the Old Newsboys or St. Clair Ecumenical Food Pantry.
Funeral services will begin Saturday January 28th at 9:15 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Al’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visiting hours are Friday 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home.
