Albert W. Currier's Obituary
Albert W. Currier, age 92, of St. Clair, passed away at home on August 10, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born October 17, 1923 in East Detroit, son of the late Howard and Susie Currier. On November 16, 1942, he married Hazel "Betty" DeBoyer, daughter of the late Paul and Hazel A. DeBoyer. They were married 62 years. Al served in the Army in the Aleutian Islands Campaign during World War II. He was a mentor to many area mechanics, a frequent traveller, an avid airplane and helicopter pilot, and the owner of Al's Transmission Service for over 60 years.
He is survived by his grandchildren; Moniquea Moncher, Heather (Jeff) Lockhart, Jamie Moncher, Charisse (Paul) Balius, Mitch (Natalie) Ortenburg and 7 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law; Gail (Harold) DeBoyer, brother-in-law; Jim (Dorothy) DeBoyer, 4 nieces, 6 nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; Betty, his daughter; Cheryl Ortenburg, his sisters; Helen (Tom) Washburn and Beatrice (Frank) Palevich, 1 niece and 2 nephews.
A non-denominational eulogy will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14 at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be Friday, August 12 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m and Sunday one hour prior to the eulogy.
