Paul Finley Saunders

June 9, 1936 - February 16, 2021

Paul Finley Saunders, age 84, of St. Clair Twp., passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on February 16, 2021. He was born June 9, 1936 at home to the late Finley and Anna (nee Dudd) Saunders. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1953. On February 8, 1958 Paul married his bride, Clarice Bubel. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army. Paul loved farming, using his tractors, and cutting wood. Paul also enjoyed playing euchre with his grandchildren and going on casino trips up north. He was an avid outdoorsman who spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. He always looked forward to the yearly get togethers at the cabin to open deer camp. Paul and Clarice bowled for several years in the Thursday night league in St. Clair for Saunders Construction. He cherished his drives that he and his brother, Bill, would go on. Paul was always ready to have a good time, and he will be greatly missed by everyone around him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clarice; children, Linda (Dave) Pieprzak, Paul Saunders; grandchildren, Jill Pieprzak, P.J. Saunders, Adam (Sara) Pieprzak, Drew Saunders, Megan Saunders, Shelly Patton, Tina Rowbotham, Mary (Andy) Booms, John Rowbotham; great grandchildren, Paul, Gracie, Ella, Claira, Ethan, Joshua, Anna, Jasmine, Chloe, Bella, Sadie, Braelyn; great great grandchild; Finley; siblings, Bill Saunders, Eleanor Angove, Margaret Sedwick, Phyllis (Thomas) Gates, Janet (Bud) Sebastian, Bob (Jan) Saunders; in-laws, Marilyn (Onorio) Vozza, Gail Potter, Gina (Syd) Smith, Ron Kristick, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his children, Gregory Norman Saunders, Kelly Saunders; siblings, Jerry (Marie) Saunders, George (Ceil) Saunders, Norman (Sara) Saunders, Mary (Don) Kasbohm; in-laws, Ernie Angove, Donald Sedwick, Barbara Saunders, Beth Kristick, Kay (Lee) Webb, Linda (Tom) Simmons, Sam Bubel, Tom Potter, and Judy (Ron) Alexander. A funeral service will be Tuesday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be Monday, February 22nd from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. as well as on Tuesday 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
