If it’s possible to know a father by knowing a son, then my knowledge of Joe Steinmetz leads to one clear understanding: James Steinmetz was a good man - indeed, a great man: devoted to family, community and country. My thoughts and prayers to the Steinmentz Family over the passing of Mr Steinmentz. He was a very caring person and was very instrumental in Marine City's growth and always helping the community.
What a wonderful picture of Uncle Jim! It captures perfectly his wonderful smile! So many memories of his smile while hanging out on the porch with JoAnne, stopping in the agency to say hi on trips from Connecticut, and at any family function! He is loved and will be missed!

Jim Steinmetz was a First Sgt when I reported to him for 4 years as Company Clerk of the 236th in Marine City. He was the most knowledgeable and cool under pressure person I ever met and always a gentleman. It was my pleasure to know him, work for him and serve with him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Steinmetz was one of the parents in the neighborhood in which I grew up. He was like another dad to me and the other neighborhood kids. I went all the way through school with his first born, Jim whom I consider a friend to this day. Regretfully, I will be out of state until Tuesday and will be unable to attend either the visitation or the funeral. Mr. Steinmetz and his family will most certainly be in my prayers throughout this week end. Rest in peace, Mr. Steinmetz and enjoy being reunited with Kay.
