Shirley R. Biewer

Shirley R. Biewer, age 92 of St. Clair, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2025 with her loving family at her side. Her family mourns the loss of a loving mother and a cherished grandmother. Shirley was born on her family’s farm on August 20, 1933 to the late Harvey and Clester Fordt. She attended St. Clair High School, graduating in 1951 as salutatorian of her class. Growing up, Shirley fondly remembered living above her father’s store, Fordt’s General Store, in Adair. It was here where she met the love of her life, Richard Biewer. Richard and Shirley were married on April 18, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clair, and together they enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage before Richard’s passing in 2016. Throughout her life, Shirley was a woman of deep faith. Her faith journey began at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Casco Twp. Here, she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher. She would later join St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she continued to volunteer and was an active participant in the church, serving as a member of the Rosary Alter Society and sponsoring her grandchildren through their sacrament of confirmation. Her faith formed the foundation of the kind and compassionate woman she was known to be. Shirley had a great appreciation for life and those whom she shared it with. She was a natural when it came to hosting and entertaining, and was also a wonderful cook. At her home, she hosted countless pool parties for her family and friends, as well as her children and their friends. Her welcoming nature and loving demeanor made everyone feel like family. Shirley lived her life to the fullest, traveling with Richard across the globe, for both business and pleasure, and they were avid members of the Nomad’s Traveling Group. Her life was one that was full of adventure, laughter, and friendship. Ultimately, Shirley’s greatest legacy will be the love she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Above all, Shirley was a loving mother and a cherished grandmother. Family meant everything to her, and she was undoubtedly the anchor of her’s. Her warm smile and endearing laugh will be greatly missed, but her deep love and strong faith will be forever remembered by her family. Shirley is survived by her children, Brian (Lillian) Biewer, Timothy (Kim) Biewer, Debbie (Rick) Schleife, and Diane (Jeff) Greig; grandchildren, Tracy (Brandon) Conley, Bradley (Lizzy) Biewer, Tyler (Amanda) Wilund, Nick (Laura) Biewer, Blake (Kaity) Biewer, Ashley (Chad) Haws, Kyle (Mike) Schleife, Miranda Greig, Megan Greig, and Trevor Greig; great grandchildren, Lila and Evelyn Conley, Amy Wilund, Wynn and Bo Biewer, and Doug and Lawson Haws; sister in law, Anne Biewer and many cherished nieces, nephews and dear friends. Shirley was predeceased by her dear sisters, Donna (Roman) Machurick and Doris (Ralph) Earl, as well as her beloved husband, Richard Biewer. The family sincerely appreciates the compassionate care Shirley received by her caregivers, Patrice, Michelle, and Pam. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Friday, October 24th 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with an evening prayers service at 7:30 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home before processing to St. Paul’s Church for services.
